Seniors

Many of the events and workshops that are held by our organization are catered towards seniors and helping them create a stronger connection with the community.

New Horizons for Seniors Program

Currently, we have our New Horizons for Seniors Program set in place during July and August. In this government-funded program, we host weekly workshops that teach seniors and other guests how to edit videos on the software iMovie, basic computer and internet safety lessons, the application of many useful softwares, email and online bank registrations and more! These workshops are free and available to people of all ages to participate in. We hope to see you or your family members there one day!

Volunteers

At Multinational Small & Medium Business Community Center, we are grateful to be able to attain the help of many volunteers for our many events and workshops! These volunteers have helped our sessions run very smoothly, whilst providing a helpful and welcoming atmosphere for all of our clients and seniors. If you are interested in volunteering at SMBCC, feel free to continue reading to find more details regarding volunteering with us!

Why should you volunteer?

Before you may decide to volunteer with us, you may find yourself asking, “Why should I volunteer in the first place?“. To start off, volunteers are a very integral part to our non-profit organization and our community, since our volunteers help us run many of our events and workshops smoothly. By volunteering with us at SMBCC, you will become more involved with the community whilst developing many important work skills. Since we are a non-profit organization, if you are a student in need of completing your 40 hours of community service, we are able to provide you with those hours if you are willing to provide the commitment and work.

What do volunteers do at SMBCC?

We have many volunteering opportunities available throughout the year at SMBCC due to the amount of events and workshops that we host. There is usually a large variety of the different types of events that we host, so the volunteering roles tend to vary based on the activity. In general however, volunteers are expected to:

  • Help set up and clean the activity area before and after the event
  • Greet and guide guests towards the room where the main activity will take place and other areas which may be of importance in the venue (e.g. washroom, changing rooms)
  • Aid guests when they are in need of help
  • Comply with the company and venue’s rules and regulations
  • Commit their work fully for the specified amount of time

How do volunteers sign up to help out with an event at SMBCC?

Keep a lookout for volunteering opportunities on this website (smbservice.org) for upcoming events and workshops! If you find an event that you are interested in volunteering for, please send us a call or email with the information provided on the Contact Us page. We hope to see you at our future events!
